Jan Purdy Metcalf’s newest piece Home Run captures the energy of a regatta through a rhythmic field of overlapping sails in soft whites and blues, punctuated with bright nautical signal flags. (24 × 36 inches.)
The piece will be featured at the Artists Association of Nantucket Gala on July 18, 2026, honoring Metcalf for her artistic contributions and her longstanding involvement with the Artists Association of Nantucket as both an artist member and board member.
Honoring Craft, Community, and the Coast
For the 2025 “Wet Paint” event, hosted by the Artists Association of Nantucket, Jan joined fellow island artists in reinterpreting the historic Sailor’s Valentine tradition. Her piece celebrates the enduring connection between Nantucket’s creative community and the ocean that surrounds it.
